The BAPE Shark Tee #1 'Black' is a cornerstone piece in A Bathing Ape’s lineup, representing the brand’s enduring influence on global streetwear. First introduced in the early 2000s, the Shark motif has become one of BAPE’s most recognizable graphics, known for its aggressive yet playful design language. This particular tee showcases the graphic in its most iconic form, combining bold aesthetics with premium construction that continues to resonate with collectors and newcomers alike.
Overview
The BAPE Shark Tee #1 'Black' features a heavyweight cotton fabric, consistent with BAPE's commitment to quality and durability. Its standout design is the full Shark face graphic split across the front zipper, a nod to the original Shark hoodie that propelled the motif to cult status. Screen-printed in vivid colors, the graphic includes the serrated teeth, bulging eyes, and signature camo-accented letters that spell “WGM” (World Gone Mad). The black base offers a versatile backdrop, allowing the multicolor artwork to command attention without overwhelming the overall look. Subtle yet significant branding details—such as the BAPE woven neck tag and sleeve tab—anchor the design in authenticity, while the tailored fit caters to contemporary streetwear sensibilities.
Key Highlights
• Iconic Shark Motif Design: Features the unmistakable split-face Shark graphic originally popularized on BAPE full-zip hoodies, now adapted for a statement-making tee.
• Heavyweight Cotton Construction: Crafted from durable 100% cotton, offering a premium hand feel and long-lasting wear.
• Black Base for Versatility: Allows the vibrant graphic elements to stand out, making it a wearable yet striking wardrobe staple.
